It's okay
It's okay that I took a nap after lunch. It's okay that I don't have the brainspace to work on the stuff I'm supposed to work on today, the stuff that was supposed to be finished two weeks ago. It's okay if I just lay on the couch and feel drained for a little while. It's okay if I take another little cat nap before dinner.

We got all the Fedex orders on the porch before 10am and then spent until noon at the bank talking about merchant accounts. That was a lot to accomplish on my second day of actually having energy.

I'm not 100% yet. And that's okay.

It's okay, and it's more than okay for you to be okay with it. It's obligatory that you be okay with it.

Yes, you need to tend to your customers as you can, however if you try to over exert yourself when you are still in early recovery, you will do yourself harm, slow your recovery and even possibly bring on another bout of something. Apart from being way less than optimal for you, it would inconvenience your customers more than you taking it a bit easy will.

Of course, you know all this, but I get the sense that you will be torn between getting well and diving back in to it all. If I were a doctor I would prescribe you a long nap and a bath-salt soak as needed for at least the next four days.

Well, thank you, Doctor! Shortly after I wrote this, I took your prescription and soaked in another one of Om Shanti's Bath Salts (Refreshing Citrus) and have been doing handwork on the couch.

Bob has been taking excellent care of the customers. I'm not afraid of that going wrong. It's that I'm not doing my work -- producing new things. But as you say, if I push myself too hard, I'll just get sick again and then I really won't be producing anything.

So if I can only really work at 100% for half a day for a little while, that's better than 0% all day, right?

This is one 0f the problems with being your own boss, I'm noticing already -- it's easier to convince just about anyone else in the universe that I'm too sick to work than it is to talk myself into it. Or out of it, as the case may be.

Even in the depths of the Gastrointestinal Illness of Doom I was still answering emails and trying to get things ready to ship...in between bouts of falling right over...

It's Okay. I say so.

(That help?)

Yes. I helps. =)

And there's nothing wrong with answering emails and getting things ready to ship, as long as it doesn't make you sicker. I didn't answer the phone because my throat hurt so badly, but I was answering emails all along.

Last night, as I sat on the couch I worked on a project that was supposed to be finished and shipped last month. I feel really good about getting it closer to completion. But the customer isn't angry at me for holding up the order. So why am I?
